  1. Hi Peter, We have 2006/7 100 series TD and just did a 3 week trip to S.A towing our 20' ATV and was extremely happy the way both the car and van handled. I never bothered with the fuel consumption on this trip but previously I've worked it out to being between 18-20Ltrs /100klm towing the van. The TD has no trouble pulling the van up the ranges. Normally drops to 2nd gear and sit on about 30-40 Klms/Hr.Not sure what size motor is in your patrol but a cruiser has better resale value if your going to upgrade in the future. Deb & I will be going to the Xmas gathering so we can meet and catch up there if you have anymore questions. Kingston Rose
  2. Gidday Kimbo have been reading your whereabouts and am very bloody envious. We're leaving Monday for the Flinders and should be at Wilpena Pound by Thurs/Friday so if your in the area lets have a beer. King.
  3. Kimbo & Chris how's things? Due to a slight bending of the Car & Caravan we didn't get to the Top End so Deb and I have changed our holiday destination. We are now only taking 3 weeks holidays and heading for the Flinders Ranges. We hope to get to Wilpena about 22nd Aug; spend 3-4 days there then go across to the Eyre peninsula for 4-5 days then work our way back home by 6th Sept. we'll be hitting Adelaide about the 26th to head for the Coorong as a detour on the way home. If any KOGs are around at this time get in touch and we may cross pathes. King & Deb
  4. Hi Chris thanks for the weather forcast we'll be in Darwin in around 4 weeks. Heading up that way for a month. Kimbo's last posting tells everyone what he's up to (Boulia& Beyond) Main Group Forum. King.
  5. Hi Greg & Judy after checking out the van (VERY IMPRESSIVE) we've come to the conclusion you may as well sell up at Miriwinni due to the fact you'll never be home!!. One thing for sure you'll always be seen in the dark. You have both done a great job designing THE HUT , see you at Sandy Creek. King.
  6. Hi Greg & Judy bet the two of you are like kids at christmas, I WANT IT NOW!!. Deb & I are going to the show if we can get our timetables to match so we'll make sure we check out " THE HUT" King.
  7. Hi Garnet & Joy We'll be leaving for the Territory on 4th July heading straight to Darwin for a few days then to Litchfield, should be there sometime between 10th -15th July we'll keep an eye out for you. From there it will be Kakadu, Katherine Gorge and by then would have worked out which way we want to come home. Hope to meet! King.
  8. I also agree with Greg, If you haven't read the orginal posting it's good to scroll down and read each response. If people don't want to do it that way just click on the Last Action column and you will get the last response. If you do change it how many people do you think will scroll to the bottom wondering what the original question was.
  9. Hi also, just seconding Deb's opinion Deb & I often talk about the great camping at Bankabanka. Ive got some great photo's of Ernie"the Emu" doing strange things to my chair it's a pitty he's not around anymore. Keep up the good work and don't worry too much, some people wouldn't know what it takes too be polite. King.
  10. Hi Rod & Mavis you can buy complete kits from ARB. Bought mine when i had the old 80 series kitted up for offroad work. It comes in its own canvas type bag. not sure of the price. King.
  11. Just thought I'd better clear up a misunderstanding. King and I are travelling to the TOP END in the northern territory not THE CAPE in northern Qld (03/07 to 31/07/09). However if anyone out there will be on the road we'd love to catch up. At this point I think we are heading off out through Roma, Winton, Mt Isa and then across to the Stuart Hway and north. Not quite sure which way we'll be heading home though...there's a thought maybe we won't come home....just keep travelln' Cheers D
  12. That would be awwwsum if you'd do that for us. If you find some good places just leave the bread crumbs behind and we'll follow them.. Have a great trip King.
  13. Hi fellow Koggers, Deb & I thought it might be an idea to let people know that we will be heading to the Top End for the month of July and it would be good to hear from anyone that is up that way around the same time. It would be great to meet same new travellers. King.
  14. Julie, Just a follow-up on the Obies protector when we did our central OZ trip we did the Marrinee loop, very corrigated, Birdsville & Oodnadatta tracks, also corrigated, and the rear protector never looked like parting company with the velcro. I thought money well spent. King.
  15. Hi Bruce & Sue, I purchased a rear window saver from a company called Obie's Outback and 4x4 for the 100 series about 2 years ago when we did our central oz trip. It definately payed for itself as i watched a rock about 4 cms wide hit the window through the rear view mirror. It is made of perspex and shaped to the window. It's held on by velcro and never looked like coming off during the trip. The velcro on the back window is only now starting to lift but when i bought the protector it came with spare velcro. Here is the contact details. OBIE'S OUTBACK AND 4X4 44 MITCHELL ROAD MELTON SOUTH VICTORIA pH. 03 97431351 0418 513437 www.obiesoutback.com.au obie@obiesoutback.com.au When i bought it i think the price was about $120. The owners names are Mike & Sue, and i actually spoke to him and he was extremely helpful. Hope this is of some help. Kingston..
  16. We have had a Weber Baby Q for a few years now. We bought the original Baby Q without side tables but have just recently purchased the side tables. Our BBQ lives under our bed in the ATV. We are very happy with the way it cooks.....so much so we recently replaced our home BBQ with the largest Webber Q. Cheers King and Deb Rose
  17. Must have been too much Xmas cheer, couldn't find the right buttons to push????? Hope his New Year isn't as joyfull!!!
  18. Hi Mods, nothing over exciting Deb has to work Xmas day so I'll be doing a few things around the house that should have been done a while back, then back to work for me next week for 3 days. We are saving our holidays for our Top End trip in July. New years day we are heading to Butinga with other members of the 4wd club. Have a great Xmas and New Year and Deb & I will see you all in 09
  19. Welcome to the group Greg & Judy, hope you didn't procrastinate too long over your decision to purchase a Kedron  How long a wait do you have.
  20. Brian, Two great minds think alike. Kingston
  21. To the Corakedromal owners ,(very original), it was a pleasure having you as guests , Deb and I are glad that you enjoyed yourselves. King.
  22. Rick, Brian could have a point but my first thought was they are used to hang the safety chains on so you don't have to leave them on the ground or wrapped over the A-Frame. That's my guess anyway.
  23. Hi pete & Tracey, First I'd like to say your both bloody lucky the car looks very sick. I have a 07 100 series TD and am pulling a 20' ATV and it has no trouble towing it. I'm also in a 4WD Club and we've just had our Xmas party and there are members with Nissans towing normal 20' vans and they are finding the 3litre TD are struggling on inclines etc. Nissan are supposed to be bring out a new engine but that is a few years off. As far as Petrol/Deisel for towing purposes I'd stick with deisel. good luck with whatever your decision is either way it's what your towing that makes the holiday special. Kingston
  24. It was a great weekend for both Deb & I as 5 days after we left we owned a Kedron. The KOG Group was great. Thanks King & Deb Rose
  25. Hi Rod & Mavis, Kingston here Deb & I haven't done anything yet with our 100 series but when the suspension does finally pack it in I'm going to put the same suspension that i got on my 80 series which was heavy duty springs and LTR Shockies, They are air adjustable and have a separate oil cannister to help keep the shockie cooler when it's working hard on rough roads. These shocks aren't cheap but we did alot of rough roads in the 80 and the ride comfort was brilliant. I get all my modifications done at ARB Southside. Mark Lacey is the owner & last time i was in Mark Pearson was the Manager tell them i sent you.
