  1. The Vitros also seem to frost up quickly and therefore reducing the cooling performance dramatically. They are certainly a premium PRICED product !!! We chose a 190l Waeco Coolmatic for our 2004 XC mainly as it was a lot cheaper than a 150l Vitro and also larger than that sized Vitro. We have had no problems with it and it doesn't frost up or require freezer to be half emptied on rough roads - it's done the Tanami, Plenty & Mereenie. I did fit a small 12V in the fridge compartment to circulate the air around the fridge which also had the added benefit of being able to change the thermostat from 4 to 2.5 to maintain 0 - 4 C which means less on time for the compressor. Some people don't like the white finish but I prefer function over form. Cheers Darryl
  2. My theory is the water gets into the boot door surround and if the drain holes are blocked with the sealing rubber it then drains into the boot whereas with the drain holes clear then it empties externally. Cheers Darryl
  3. Hi Fieldsy Along the bottom of the boot doors are drain holes - make sure the rubber seal is cut away at these drain holes. Cheers Darryl
  4. Gee Roger has been busy on the private forum adding heaps of trek notes for the Vic high country - Well done  There must be great camping spots found by those full time traveling KOGGERS so don't be shy post them up for us  Cheers Darryl
  5. Hi John I'll email you offline with directions to 2 mile camp - may as well keep our great spots secret like others do  Cheers Darryl
  6. Sorry Chris, I no longer have the email with the GPS Co-ords. Cheers Darryl
  7. Fair enough - just checking if it was an accurate measure or trusting a meter with a unknown accuracy. Cheers Darryl
  8. Hi Rosco Good luck as a lot of the diehard Nissan owners on this group have been upgrading them to Landcruisers of late   cheers Darryl
  9. Hi Lionel I'm assuming you are using your house water meter therefore I'd be a little sceptical about the meters accuracy at such low water useage since they would have been calibrated more for measuring kilo litres and the last calibration would have been prior to it's intallation. You could probably give it a rough check by filling 2 X 40 litre jerry cans and seeing what the meter measures. Just throwing a possible spanner in the works. Cheers Darryl
  10. Hi Mark, Deb & Family Glad you had a great trip, thought you would as we enjoy Outback QLD - part of the many joys in living up here in the best State as was so proven at State of Origin once again ,but I digress. I'm looking forward to reading Alex's trip report and to see how the kids enjoyed the Dinosaur displays at Richmond etc. Cheers Darryl
  11. Good idea kimbo although the bike clubs I've contacted are just into MX competition. Why would I want to move to NSW when you secretly wished you lived up here in God's country  Cheers Darryl
  12. Hi All Just wondering if anyone knows or owns property within approx 1 hour of the Northside of Brisbane suitable for 3-4 kids (8-9 year olds) to ride their mini bikes on. It would be for approx 1/2 day (Sat or sun) once or twice a month. The kids are supervised by us Dad's and we are happy to do track clearing etc if required. If you know of anywhere then please contact me at dazmit@yahoo.com cheers Darryl
  13. We certainly had a great time as well and it was good to catch up with old friends and make new friends. Thanks to Bob & Di for organising a great week-end  and young Mitch also wants to pass on his thanks to everyone that made it enjoyable  Unfortunately when we left not many people were at the campground so sorry we didn't get to say good-bye to you all. Looking forward to the next one which is Millmeran for us, see you there. Darryl, Sue & Mitch
  14. Hi Jim As far as I'm aware the Vitros are usually 12V only and they install a mobitronic transformer unit to convert from 240V to 12V. These automatically switch to run off of 240V supply when it's available. These regularly fail but usually when they fail the fridge will only run off of a 240V supply and not 12V. I reckon the best thing to do is throw away the mobitronics as they also have a inbuilt 0.5 Volt loss in them which means 0.5 volts less into the fridge off of 12V batts. Have a look in a cupboard under or above the fridge for a black box which plugs into a 240V outlet , 12V outlet and has some wires going to the back of the fridge. Cheers Darryl
  15. HiMark & Deb If you call into Barcaldine Graham Rogers usually plays at one of the 2 van parks there - I reckon he is great value. Winton is a very nice little town, I'm sure you will have a great trip so have a good one. cheers Darryl
  16. Hi Wayne & Cheryl In full sun either side of midday you should be getting at least 20Amps from 3 X 120W panels (if at Brisbane or further north). There was a bad batch of solar panels from approx 2003 which were failing and were being replaced under warranty - could be worth a 12V specialist checking the output from each panel. Cheers Darryl
  17. That's gold Rosco , i like that. Cheers Darryl
  18. Hi Graham & Marg Can't answer all your questions , however plenty of Offroad vans travel the Gibb, some careful packing, correct tyre pressures for the dirt and driving to the conditions will see you through with minimal if any problems. Handy hint - screw lids unscrew on corrugations, that includes, olive oil, garlic paste, jam etc. Rubber bands around the bottles over the lids or stubbie coolers over them stops this happening. When you end up in Halls Creek you may as well take the short cut back via the Tanami & Plenty Hwy - we did last year and they were corrugated as expected but OK and a great experience. Fueling up in Halls Creek was enough time for us to spend in that place. The free camp along the Tanami was much nicer. Gemtree at the start of the plenty NT end is a nice spot to stopover. I carry the genny in the front boot of our van , no fuel in it and never had any probs. I had another one of Kedron's battery trays fitted and it sits on top of that and I strap it down to some eye bolts mounted to the battery tray. Enjoy  Cheers Darryl
  19. Hi Roger You could try Inskip point which is the jumping off point for the Barge to Fraser Is. It is just north of rainbow beach whereas Teewah beach in Cooloola Nat park is south of Rainbow. Dogs are allowed as opposed to Teewah. Plenty of spots to choose from. Rainbow is a nice little coastal town which is starting to go ahead now. http://www.epa.qld.gov.au/projects/park/index.cgi?parkid=238 Cheers Darryl
  20. Hi Alan I fitted a Thermoguard to mine - works well and have had no problems in 15 months, it was well worth fitting as i got a surprise how long it took to idle down to cooler temps when towing with the van. http://www.thermoguard.com.au/ Cheers Darryl
  21. Sounds like you should be charging the supposed Toyota expert guru's a consultancy fee  cheers Darryl
  22. Hi Gary & Toni There are plenty of Patrols pulling Kedron's around, assuming you have the manual which has the 3.2t (I think) tow rating then I would think up to a 17'6" interior ATV - would allow you to pack a fair bit of gear in it and still be a bit under your tow limit. Cheers Darryl
  23. Hi Tw Refer to this posting from last year  http://www.kedronownersgroup.com/forum/ind...hp?showtopic=70 cheers Darryl

    Diatronic Chip

Hi Arthur I can vouch for what Jacky Jacky & Glen have said. The Dtronic gives a noticeable increase in the torque mid range and also improves the little hesitation from the standing start. I also fitted a 3" exhaust at a later date and noticed another noticeable improvement - makes overtaking with the van on better  However I did fit a Taipan exhaust and what they don't tell you is with the hot dog style muffler it's quite noisey - after 12 months I had enough and went to a local exhaust shop who swapped the muffler for a larger free flowing type - heaps better noise wise and no noticeable drop in power. The dtronic fits behind the glovebox and takes about 15 min to install. Glen has given you a great offer so i would take him up on that. Glen do you have a web link for your business as I might look you up when I need some work done on the Cruiser ?? Cheers Darryl
  25. Hi Chris I'm sure mitch will cook you some marshmallows  That spot was approx 23km up the beach from one of the access tracks. Their are 3 access tracks fairly close together #1 is the softest and most used and always has a large hole (must be heritage listed !!) midway so you can't use momentum to get through. Numbers 2 and 3 are the easiest and usually hardpacked right to the beach unless it has been dry for a few months and then they can be soft sand which gives some trouble (from experience). As long as you avoid driving approx 2.5 hours either side of high tide it's like driving on bitumen as a old Sigma station wagon towing a old van proved a few years ago  cheers Darryl
