  1. Hello Greg, They look great. I have mine on my Landcruiser. BTW, and on another subject. Due to recent events I had to have my Landcruiser re-locked, re-keyed and re-clackered. The locksmiths say it is an easy job. Cost? $650! Don't lose your keys!! Regards Colin
  2. Hmmmmm! Now that is interesting. The weight saving is attractive. I called the distriburor on the Gold Coast. They cost $210 each, are made in Norway and the bloke I spoke to, John, did not know how puncture proof they are but said they were very strong. Personally, I don't reckon the are that vulnerable on my van as the two bottles sit behind a big grey polly box. They would be more vulnerable to some light fingered chappie knocking them off! Colin
  3. Hello Andrew, Naah! Stick it on now showing your future intentions not the past! You had better start negotiating hard as it is only 88 days to go! Colin
  4. Hello, The Outbabk Way spare wheel covers have arrived! They look great. I fitted mine immediately after taking delivery from the post office. Never had one before. Very pleased with it. If any of those who ordered one have not received theirs please let me know. Regards Colin
  5. G'day, When I was at Brendale in November I had all the lights changed, internal and external for LED's. IT is worth doing. It did not take Ashley and Tom and their team long. Regards Colin
  6. G'day Sue & Ian, We too will be in the group arriving in Leonora on 16 Jun. While it is not yet set in stone we will probably head north through Marble Bar to brooms Derby before turning east towards Cairns and home. Regards Colin
  7. Hello Everyone, Please see attached our planned itinerary for our Outback Way trip in June. This is Edition 4 which shows a change of destination on our last day from Laverton to Leonora. Regards Colin
  8. Hello, Found this on another site. Thought some might find it useful or of interest. Colin
  9. Hello everyone, Sorry for being missing in action over the past few days but, believe me, I have been up to my armpits in business crocodiles and, what is worse, lawyers! Yep, reading the comments re Laverton, I think we should move onto Leonora. Give me a day and I will get to to our group about the change. Back to the crocodiles! Regards Colin
  10. Hello John and thank you for your advice. We will, none-the-less, be staying there as that is the most favoured option from the straw poll I conducted. Regards Colin
  11. 100 DAYS TO GO until we cross the start line in Winton Or, 99 and a wakie. Colin
  12. Thanks Jacky Jacky, It sure does help. Sound basic but OK for a night or two. Gravel and not grass but, eh!, its in the b*&&#y desert in the middle of no where! Regards Colin
  13. Hello Everyone, Have any Koggers stayed at the Laverton CP? If so, would you tell us of your impressions? We are planning on having our last night together as a an Outback Way group in Laverton. And what about the only pub in town, the Desert Inn? Has anyone eaten there? Would it be any good for a last night dinner and drinks? Regards Colin
  14. Hello Everyone, Here is another little document that might be useful for those contemplating travelling the Outback Way at some time into the future. It has been created for use by our Outback Way group but others might find it useful especially if they are travelling east to west. Regards Colin
  15. Hello Everyone, Attached is a little Outback Way Handy Info document. It has been put together for our travelling group but I thought it might be useful for others planning to do the trip this year. Regards Colin
  16. Hello John, If you come across the GCR in early May (we will be mid June), I am sure everone will be interested in your reports on road conditions and anything else of interest. Regards Colin
  17. Thanks Greg, I tried deflators.....cannot remember the brand......but decided it was just as easy to deflate manually. The ARB pressure gaugeI have has a little knob on it designed for depressing the tyre valve. So, I do't need a match or a gumtreetwig. Standown Park. Now there is a nice place. They have done a great job there. Being an old vet I feel right at home there. Have a great time. Regards
  18. I have a deflator. It is called the "Gumtreetwig". You can get them anywhere. Works a treat. When you use them on your tyre valve it makes a hissing noise so you know it is working. They cost next to nothing..........only joking Colin
  19. Hello Everyone, Attached is our slightly modified itinerary for the Outback Way. It is Edition 3. It has been modified inrelation to O/night camps based on Sid's experience last September and contained on his DVD's. If anyone has any further comments and/or suggestions then please make them. April Trip

Hello Tony and Leone, Let me add my welcome to the KOG family. A lot of the area you ask about is in my backyard, so to speak. We have travelled the areas west of us many times. In Julia Creek there is an excellent free camp just east of the town. It is shown in Camps 6 as QLD#304. Winton .....the caravan parks there are all pretty secondhand so I would recommend the Long Waterhole that has already been indicated to you. If you intend to visit the dinosaur stampede then I recommend Carisbrook Station which is not in Camps 6. It is abot 80 km SW of Winton and provides easy access to the stampede. Leichhardt Falls. We intended to stay there once but most of the campers there were camped on the hot flat rocks that surround the falls which we did not like. On the banks above the Falls there were very dusty spots and but most were fouled by previous campers. So we moved on! The Falls are attractive without being spectacular. It might have been cleaned up by now so it is worth a look. At Lawn Hill NP you have two choices. We use Adels Grove as it is free of many of the NP restrictions (camp fires and pups). If you want to venture a little further, Kingfisher Camp is very good. Camps 6 QLD #273. On the way to Lawn Hill you will find the Burke & Wills RH (Camps 6 Qld #261) has good food, a bar and grassed CP facilities. 80 km west of the B&W RH is a beautiful free camp spot on the Leichhardt River (Camps 6 Qld #262). I hope this helps. Have fun! Regards Colin
  21. Hello, I have added this thread as a result of my comments in the Outback Way thread elsewhere in this Forum. Like tyres brands, Toyota v Nissan etc I reckon there will be as many opionions as contributors. I searched the Caravanner's Forum on the topic of corrugations and found the following from one contributor. My views happen to co-incide with his: Go for it! Regards Colin
  22. Good Morning Sid Fish, Sid, your DVD's arrived yesterday and Gayleen and I had an enjoyable evening watching both CD's. We learnt a lot and, as a consequence, I am going to recommend to our Outback Way group some changes to the proposed itinerary. Your bit on speed over corrugations is something I would enjoy discussing with you over a beer. I am not a believer of driving at speed to skim over the top especially while towing a van. I have made a mental note never to buy a second hand ex-Britz Landcruiser as they appear to only rent to drivers who believe in skimming corrugations at high speed . This topic may make a good thread in this forum. Regards Colin
  23. Hello Hermit, Same same as Webby, every 10,000 km. I also have the wheels balanced on every second rotation as I am told that that greatly helps tyre wear. I have Mickey Thompson tyres and the tyre people tell me that they, and many other brands of off-road tyre, are hard to balance. Regards Colin
  24. G'day Reece, I had a good conversation with a guy who has spent his life in the wheel alignment business particularly with trailers. He had a good look at my Top Ender and the suspension set-up. He made the statement that the tyre that will wear the most is the left rear tyre. That has proven to be correct on my van.. He gave me a tyre rotation chart for my van and I have attached it for you as a pdf. Regards Colin
