Hangers in the wardrobe

Recommended Posts

We are just back from a month gadding about in our recently acquired 2nd hand XC. What a comfy experience after years of camping! One silly issue was the hangers in the wardrobe - constantly finding them (and the clothes thereon) all in a heap in the bottom of the wardrobe. I'm sure there's something we don't know here! :helpsmilie:

Hi Farmer,

Glad you are enjoying your Kedron experience. We don't like to call it camping anymore - it's more like towing a 5 star unit behind your vehicle. It's nice to be out there amongst nature, but in style and comfort.

Regarding the clothes in the wardrobe - this can often happen if you have a rear bed layout as the rear of the van bounces more than the front, lifting the clothes in the wardrobe up all together in one movement and often when they come down, they don't land on the rail at all, instead falling as you say, in a heap on the bottom of the wardrobe.

We found if you put one of the hangers in reverse to all the others (ie if you hook your hangers facing the back of the van, turn one or two around to face the front) this will help.

Another thing you could try is buying a long piece of high density foam, or even one of those pool noodles cut length ways and jam this up between the rod and the ceiling of the wardrobe. With this, hangers don't have any room for upward movement.

Some other KOGGERS might have more suggestions, but we use the reverse hanger method and don't have any problems at all.

Cheers

Hi Farmer. We have an east west bed with rear wardrobe and we always use the reverse system ie engage from the rear of van. No wrinkled cloths unless its my turn to iron!!

Hi there Farmer.

Our solution is to get a piece of sullage hose, the black flexable stuff, and cut it to the length of the hanging rail. Remove the rail and slip the cut piece of hose over it, and then replace the rail.

Being about 35mm in diameter and having corrugated sides, the hose holds the coat hangers nicely in the hook of the coat hanger and the corrugations in the hose prevents them from bunching up.

This certainly works for us.

Dear All,

Thanks and we now have a few things to try. We don't have the rail as such, just those holes in a bar that you put the hangers through. We have tried to face them various ways but will certainly try all the suggestions. Nobody has so far suggested that our driving style may be at fault!

Cheers,

Farmer.
