  1. Rusty D, We have four batteries and there is an in line fuse located near each two batteries. I am not aware of fuses in the walls and that would be unlikely. I assume you are on solar/12V and not plugged into 240V at the moment? I guess your batteries were fully charged and you have had no problems with them. With the radio not working it suggests power supply problems other than just the fridge. I think these days the vans are wired so the fridge is wired direct to the batteries so when on 240V the charger is on to charge the batteries. You may have done this, but if you are on 240V just check if the mains protection switch, usually located inside the van, hasn't tripped. Other than that I can't be of much help.
  2. Not that this helps Pete and Tracey right now - but I was out at the factory recently and saw that a 'shower shed' has been set up under a carport type structure with water sprinklers on the ceiling of the shed and all along the sides. Each van now goes through this for testing for leaks prior to handover.
  3. Kaye & Lance, welcome to the KOG forum. It is a very exciting time ordering and owning a new van. Glad to hear the topics on the forum have been a help to you and wish you both well in the land of caravanning. Kedron owners all seem not to be shy in saying hello to another Kedron traveller.
  4. Not real sure Mick, but I think it has to do with petrol having a lower ignition point (than diesel) and being so close to the gas bottles.
  5. Hi Rick & Lea, Our generator has both connections. Not that I know a lot about electrics but you could look at a Amp-Fibian. Just google it or try www.ampfibian.com.au.
  6. John & Ann, I hope everything goes well for you over in Brisbane. Maybe WA would like you to take some rain back with you !!
  7. Hi Tolley, We did the opposite. We headed north but then again it was winter. From what I read, the main reason for going anti-clockwise was wind direction particularly on the Nullarbor and on the coast of Western Australia. So far this trip we have had good wind assist behind us except for one day and you could see the fuel needle dropping so if you can just stop for the day and hope the wind abates. The Nullarbor is yet to be crossed so fingers crossed. No plans to go via Broken Hill. Safe journey.
  8. Bryan, If you vented warm air into the shower - make sure the vent is covered when using the shower. Close the vent and cover it with the shower curtain. I have heard since my last post here that water can get into the vent hose and cause damage to the heater which is unlikely to be covered under warranty.
  9. We do not have the Dometic windows but I understand Dometic were to release a 'kit' in December 09 or January 10 to provide a spline to effectively stop the small bugs getting in. I also understand that this is not under any warranty as such but simply a release of a kit to overcome the problem. I think the Kedron factory will do the job at a cost to you and my understanding is each window has to be taken out to install the 'kit'. That's all I know at this stage.
  10. With regard to moving/attaching things to the rear of a caravan - there have been some discussions on the Caravaners Forum on this topic. Some there were of the opinion that such action may upset the 'balance' the van was originally designed for. Just of interest van owners may also want to have a look at the Vehicle Standards Bulletin 1 for trailers VSB 1. See 21.2 for rear overhang.
  11. Bryan, Some owners with diesel air heaters have placed one vent in the shower cubicle (if you have one) and this gives them an option for a drying room for clothes (as well as warm the shower on those chilly mornings). The other vent's placement is often so it can blow air the full length of the van - if you have a front kitchen then one may be placed under the sink area and blowing up the aisle you walk through the van or alternatively if at the back of the van then under the bed facing down the aisle. For comfort the exhaust hose is placed on the offside of the van away from the annex/awning area. Those in the group who own one may comment further.
  12. Rod, We have a 2004 XC and it has the older Camec style wind out windows. Someone recently said the larger (double) window flexes in the middle and he found when he went on dusty roads the catch vibrates back so it then lets the window open or get a gap. He suggested we drill a small hole for a screw on the bottom of the window near the catch and insert a small screw before we did dusty road trips. The screw would stop the catch sliding back and keep the window closed. Hope this makes sense.

  15. Hello Reg & Fran, We also travel with water in flush tank. On the other topic ... a tip given to us was to make sure you place yourself strategically over the 'drop zone' to avoid having to wipe the slippery dip so to speak! :shades:
  16. Hi Peter & Tracey, We had some damp in our boot as well. Firstly we pulled the little plug out to let water drain out. At the bottom of the boot door there is a little gap for water to drain through and sometimes you may need to put a small nick in the rubber seal to allow the water to drain. Worked for us anyway.
  17. Hi Glen & Debbie, Would be interested to hear if you got the genquip 3300w generator. One of the last couple of month's edition of 4WD Action Magazine (I think ... I read so many ....which also reviewed snatchum straps  ) did a review on the genquip 3300w generator. It said they ran a computer, the airconditioner, power tools etc for a week and they were prepared to give it their thumbs up. So much so the mag is offering one as a prize to one of its competitions. Maybe someone here can tell you what the magazine edition number was. I have heard Kedron have now swapped over to the Yamahas.
  18. We tried the Thetford chemicals first up and found the pink chemical for the flush tank seemed to cause algae. Since then we have swapped to Portasol by Chemtech which is an antibacterial sanitiser. ( I looked it up on the net and it contains 10g/L Glutaraldehyde which is often used to disinfect medical and dental equipment and as a chemical preservative and embalming fluid). The 1ltr container says Waste treated with Portasol can be safely disposed into sewerage systems at any time or septic systems once portosol has broken down. Not sure what the last bit means. We use 40ml in 1 litre of water for the 20 litre holding tank and every so often put about the same through the top flush tank. Like most portable toilets it still needs to be emptied every 3-4 days. You can get it at marine shops and camping stores if you are interested.
  19. Hi Tony, I saw a similar thread on ExplorOz. It would seem this topic has also been raised on the Bushtracker forum http://www.bushtrackerownersforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1155 which you may find helpful.
  20. Hi Kimbo & Ned, Maybe you had better delay your visit to Mackay until Cyclone Hamish has passed through so you don't get yourselves hurt or your caravan damaged. No doubt Scott will be safe.
  21. Hi Russ & Sue, It is hard to contain your excitement when the date of delivery is so close. I'm sure the Kedron owner at Dubbo would be happy to chat to you. I trust the pick up will go to plan and wish you safe travels.
  22. Col & Debbie, Congratulations on the new addition to your family. I'll bet it was a huge temptation to want to come prepared to tow it back. I'm sure you will see other KOG owner's in your planned travels. Safe travels.
  23. Hi Mark & Deb, Well, what can one say. Some people don't deserve to own a 'Cruiser. :shades:
  24. Hi Kimbo, Looks pretty "schmick". The snorkle does look a bit big but I think its just that way to fit the design of the 200. Does the job and that's the most important thing. (Cars & vans are money pits !!)
  25. Pretty scary. But I have been known to drink green tea.
