  1. Hi Alan is it due to the knives, forks, etc bouncing around - have you tried putting tea towels or foam in the drawer to stop everything from moving around?? Cheers Deb B
  2. Hi Great discussion. I also use a shower cap or can covers for the smoke alarm and agree with Sue regarding the green veggie bags. Vac sealing also helps - I peel and cut up the pumpkin and vac seal - takes up less space and lasts a smidge longer. Cheers Deb B
  3. Hi Fieldsie Craig from Caboolture Caravan Repairs might be able to assist/advise. />http://www.caravanrepair.com.au/ Cheers Deb B
  4. Hi Greg, The short answer is, NO! Mines 5 years old at least, might be worth a check. Thanks. Glen
  5. Hi Reece, Not very familiar with the Yamaha but I have a couple of ideas to try. Firstly if your batteries are only down a little the charger may be fluctuating voltage off and on causing the power draw to fluctuate. You could check this by observing the voltage input while it's running. Secondly, check that your inverter is off and that it's not trying to work in unison with the charger, but they should be separated automatically when power is connected. I'm not sure if the Yamaha has an economy button or not, but if it has try turning it off. Lastly, how old is your fuel? Hope this gives you some ideas to try. Good luck Glen
  6. Sounds like you are having a very relaxing trip. You will thoroughly enjoy your stay at boondooma. Cheers Deb B
  7. Hi We also have the levellers - the small one for in between the tyres and the large for either the front or back of the tyres. We also have the large wheel chocks - the width of the tyres. Glen also puts the corner stabilisers down whenever we set up - i also object to being seasick:) Good luck with it all and if time permits would love to catch up at the Lawnton showgrounds so you can show off the new van. Cheers Deb & Glen
  8. Hi Rob Further info on the gas heater installation, we needed a rush job to have the CPU (CO2 gas monitor) replaced as advised in an earlier thread. Caboolture Caravan Repairs - Craig Jackson - 07 5495 1966 - 17 Strathvale Court, Caboolture - we highly recommend his work and knowledge of the gas heater. Cheers Deb & Glen
  9. Hi Ian & Sue we dropped in on on our way back from having breakfast at the Strathpine Coffee Club this morning. We got talking with the kiwi kedroners just down from you and they advised you hadn't long left. We informed them of Cobb & Co and Goomeri. If you would like a good chinese meal - I'm sure Rod & Mavis would be only too happy to join you at Lai Lai which is just down the road at Petrie at the roundabout (I think they might be closed on Mondays??). Otherwise the Pine Rivers Bowls Club (West Wing Restaurant) is pretty good which is approx 3 min drive down the road - cnr Sparkes & Francis Rds, Bray Park. They have a courtesy bus - 07 3205 2677 - they have a $1 life membership and no we aren't on commission Cheers Deb & Glen
  10. Gnomeo, gnomeo, where for art thou gnomeo?? Hope you are travelling well and no more mishaps with parts and wobbly boots. Cheers Deb & Glen
  11. Safe travels and see you in Brisbane. Cheers Deb & Glen
  12. Hi Can't comment on Thunderbolt's Way, but Dumaresque Dam near Armidale was a good free camp. Cheers Deb B
  13. Hi Mike & Helen I will make sure Glen notes the info you have provided to check on the model we have and to check on the control panel. Thanks for the info. Cheers Deb B
  14. HI Rob, We had our Truma Gas heater fitted 12 months ago and it cost $2,500, which is slightly cheaper than the diesel one. We had space under our oven for the unit with tubes running to the shower cubicle and out under the fridge. I recommend insulating these tubes as they do give off a fair bit of heat inside the cupboards they pass through. We also had a third 9kg gas bottle fitted as a back up. The factory figures work out to around 50 hrs of running time per 9kg cylinder which will last a fairly long time for us as we don't tend to leave it running all night. We heat the van before showers & going to bed, then we turn it on from the comfort of bed when we wake in the morning, so it's nice and warm when we get up. Yes I know the diesel supporters have just got their calculators out and worked out that theirs is cheaper to run, but I believe the benefits outweigh this small difference. The reason we went with this type was to avoid the ticking of the diesel pump, the fumes expelled outside, which are significant when starting up and particularly of concern when camped close to others. There is virtually no maintenance required other than ensuring your regulator is in good condition as poor gas flow will shut it down. We haven't had the opportunity to really put it to the test over several days in icy conditions but it has definitely worked well on the occasions of zero degrees that we have used it. Also I don't have to carry another type of fuel supply that I don't already use in the van. So overall I'm happy with our decision to go gas instead of diesel, but it comes down to individual choice and not all will agree with this. I hope this has helped Rob and let us know how you go with it. By the way, the last time I enquired Kedron will only fit diesel heaters.
  15. Hi all I have emailed Glen at work so he is aware of this discussion. Hopefully he'll get a chance to give you the details tomorrow. Cheers Deb B
  16. Well how would you feel after falling out of the car and landing on your head? Perhaps he's not so happy about being paraded in front of everyone in his mankini either!
  17. Hi Noel We went with the gas heater mainly due to the negatives that Tony listed re the diesel. We have only had it for approx 12mths and very little cold weather travel in that time but happy with it when we camped at Wallumbilla in the frost. Very quiet, no ticking and no worry about the gas going off. We did have trouble starting it on our last trip but just needed the gas flow adjusted. And as Tony pointed out - I have the control right beside my bed so no need to get up to turn it on. I think Glen may have regretted giving me such easy access:) But like anything, they would both have their fors and against - just personal preference. Good luck Deb B
  18. Hi Lea & Rick I usually put a block of foam in the hatch but forgot when we drove from Menindee to Wilcannia - whoops - we now have on our to do list to change the front one to a fantastic. Will be leaving the four seasons at the back of the van though - don't appear to have any issues with that one - maybe the air con helps:) The four seasons is good in that you can have it open even when raining. Cheers Deb b
  19. Hi New members Leno & Denise stayed there a couple of weeks ago along with Elle & Blackie and there was an issue of him closing the gates at 8.15pm - if you weren't in by then - tough luck. I contacted one of the show society members who advised that the caretaker would be moving on shortly and she offered to open the gate for us if we came back to a locked gate - all was well when we returned. The caretaker also had spare keys to offer for a deposit of $25 I think it was, but he forgot to mention that to Leno & Denise and Elle & Blackie. Cheers Deb B
  20. Hi Lawnton Showgrounds is handy to Kedron at Brendale. They have spare keys to offer for a deposit in case the caretaker doesn't advise you of this and insists on closing the gates when you might be out and about for dinner, etc. You are handy to the Lawnton Tavern (walking distance) and also the Pine Rivers Bowls Club (5 min drive) with a $1 life membership which would then entitle you to a free bus service. We eat out at the West Wing Restaurant at the Bowls Club on a regular basis. Springers (12 volt specialists), BCF and the local provider for Odour be gone are also handy to the show grounds. For more information on camping at the showgrounds, contact Tony Pratley on 0410 539 551 or Brian Andrews on 0420 500 157 Cheers Deb B
  21. Hi again, As mentioned above, I have a cradle for my iPhone which powers it and improves signal by a passive aerial. Meaning it doesn't have an actual patch lead that plugs directly into the phone but, the cradle itself is linked to the aerial and improves signal by approximately 2 bars in weak signal areas. Works pretty well for our needs. Glen...
  22. Hi Gary & Kaye, I had a similar issue recently when I had an extra tank fitted by another supplier. I eventually found they had fitted one of the press together fittings between the tank & the pump. These fitting are great for pressured lines but when suction is present they can suck air in, causing cavitation of the pump. I would suggest you check what fittings are in place between tank & pump and replace with hose clamps if necessary or look for an air leak in your joins. I hope this helps resolve the problem for you. Glen...
  23. Hi Glen has an iPhone which Comwide Communications provided a cradle and aerial for our car. They are also at Brendale - Unit 6/11 Kenworth Place Brendale, Ph: 07 3889 6799 Mob: 0407 032 526 - Manager is Graeme Duck. Both Comwide and Wincom are good to deal with. Cheers Deb B
