We are camped at a drop dead gorgeous beach camp at Port Gibbon on SA’s Eyre Peninsula. Called Serenity (talk about well named) it has a view from our van that is unrivalled. The cost is $15 a night, and the only facilities are rubbish bins. Mobile phone reception is OK, but not brilliant. But we have Starlink and Celfi Go so that’s all good.5 points

After years of traveling with our Kedron all over Australia, I didn't realise how much you get used to the luxury of a van. Recently we had to make a hurried trip to Queensland. I flew and Paul drove as we knew we would need the car for anything up to six weeks. Having only the day before returned from Europe we had no time to get the van prepared before we urgently had to be in Queensland. On our return trip, I knew I was going to have to go 'camping'. Didn't really realise what this would entail until we got on the road. School holidays and the PGA tour in Kalgoorlie meant that we couldn't get accommodation at some places. We drove past most free camps with our tent in the car, and only used Baxters Rest stop because it had a toilet. I kept looking out the window going we could stop there or there or there. Staying in Broken Hill during 30 hours of rain was not fun, and at 11pm we had to move to a Motel because we were ringing wet. The Kedron doesn't leak I thought. My sister and children are sure that Paul took me camping so I would appreciate the van more. We managed to get three days at Elliston S.A. Only drizzled there, but by now we had learnt a few things on how to cope without 'Q' (our Kedron). Our last night on the road was in Kalgoorlie. Our site was concrete - all concrete so pitching the tent was interesting. Besser bricks may have come into play to hold the tent in place. This time we were smarter, and got an en suite in case it rained, we would have somewhere to run to if this happened. When we got home to Perth I went out and gave the Kedron a cuddle. Hopefully in the future we will be able to get out for some short trips. My dad is coming over for a few months soon, and Paul thinks that at 87 he can go with us and stay in the tent. Stop laughing I haven't found a way to break it to him that dad would probably get our bed and we will be back out in the tent. We will see, we will see.5 points

A guy is driving down the road when he spots a gypsy caravan with a sign outside saying, "readings $30" Thinking, "this could be a laugh", he pulls over and enters the caravan. The gypsy immediately grabs his hands, looks at them for a couple of seconds and stares into his eyes. She says, "sweet child o' mine, livin' on a prayer ,stairway to heaven, don't dream it's over." "wow", said the guy, "those are my favourite songs!" "impressive", he continues, "please, tell me my future" "can't" exclaims the gypsy, "I am just a four tune teller"4 points

Hi all, We had a new 23'6 JB Dirt Road Extreme but sold it last year and decided to buy a 2009 21' Kedron ATV-2 instead. Although the weights are similar, it is smaller and will be easier to manoeuvre, as well as being more robust. We will be taking it on its first trip (with us) to Yeppoon in a couple of weeks. Look forward to seeing how it goes.4 points

All going well, we plan to leave here at home in SA on Friday, for our annual migration to warmer places. It has been a much later start this year as we had family related stuff to do here. Our plan is to head North to Alice Springs and then West across the Great Central Road to WA. Our itinerary takes us North up the Oodnadatta Track after a few days around Clare then the Flinders Ranges. We should head off from Yulara on the GCR on 27 June. I think we will stay the night at Curtin Springs before hand. The van's wheel bearings have been greased, the floors washed, bed made, and some food already in the van. I can't wait to enjoy warmer weather! Will we see any of you out and about on these roads?4 points

A nice quiet spot on the River Murray SA, near Berri. Site 5, at Lyrup Flats. It is a national park (Murray River National Park), NE of Adelaide. And although it’s a national park, it is dog friendly in this section. Lovely weather and equally lovely view. And no one else in cooee. The small town of Lyrup is just across the river on a ferry ride, and has a great tavern with meals.3 points

Hi all, I have a 2011 TopEnder with a shower/toilet combo. The shower mixer tap is starting leak. Before I go and remove the tap I just wanted to know if the mixer tap is a special caravan mixer tap or will I be able to replace or find parts from the local plumbing outlet? Has anyone had to fix or replace the shower mixer tap? Please let me know of any problems removing it or obtaining replacement parts. Thanks in advance Rob3 points

We replaced our shower mixer tap some years ago. Just bought normal one from plumbing show. Haven't had a problem since.3 points

Hi fellow travellers. we are now on the Eyre Peninsula in SA, and off on a trip to WA. So far we have been generally lucky with the weather despite a few hot days. The Eyre Peninsula is a cool area and a good place to be when it’s warm. Anyway, here is our latest report. Stage 1 January Eyre Peninsula.pdf3 points

This morning over here at Port Lincoln we are having new running boards (steps) put on the Landcruiser. It will make getting in and out of the car easier. Let’s be honest, it’s for me, not Val. He has no trouble getting into the car. I find after the Lovells upgrade, which raised the body of the car, it is a pain to haul myself up into the car. When the car door is opened the steps will lower, and when the door is closed they will raise. They are called Clearview Powerboards, and are not cheap. But will be worth it. I saw them on a friend’s vehicle and was super impressed. https://www.clearviewaccessories.com.au/powerboards/3 points

We have had two Kedron Vans both have had two Sirocco fans fitted. I think they are fantastic until they need cleaning. Not sure of what happened to the directions on how to clean them. With the help of Google "Cleaning Sirocco Fans" I found a couple You Tube videos. Suddenly the task of cleaning the fans became a pleasure. If you hate cleaning the fans, do yourself a favour and do what I did and watch the demo. I will no longer have to look at a dirty fan.3 points

It’ll be fine. We had a 2009 ATV2 for 9 years before upgrading to the new AT5. Went everywhere including Gibb River Road, Tanami Track etc. Very happy with it and the great service we received from the Gall Boys 👌3 points

Hi Brian Try Andrew at Award Canvas and Vinyl, 21 High St, Kippa-Ring 0417 700 637. We have had Andrew make various things for 3 vans over many years and regard his quality of work highly. I was going to say "Barry sent me" but he may charge you double!! Not likely. Highly recommended. His last and very recent product was for our XC3, a protective cover for the awning when it is rolled up, for when stored outside. Regards, Barry3 points

Hi all, I have a 2011 TopEnder and I want to replace the 3 x 120ah agm batteries with a 200ah lithium lifepo4 battery. The onboard 240v charger is the Xantrex 40amp and the solar controller is the Morningstar TS-45 which came with the van when built. Both do not support lithium charging that I know of. My question is, can I simply just replace the agm's with the new lithium without replacing the 240v AC charger and Solar controller? Has anyone done this? My understanding from what I have read online is that the Battery BMS will sort it out. There are conflicting reports online as to what will work and will not. Any constructive feedback is welcome Cheers Rob Note: I have 3 x 135w solar panels on the roof, my guess is that will be OK with charging the lithium battery.2 points

I enquired of Kedron if they could replace the flyscreens/blinds on my 2012 Kedron ATV. Robyn tells me that Kedron do not provide this service anymore. Can anyone recommend a repairer in the Brisbane/Sunshine Coast area that can tackle this job and do it properly? Thanks …. Richard2 points

Hi Rich I know others have said they replaced their screens themselves, but we had our caravan door & window screens replaced with black midge mesh by Paul and Vanessa Archer - Swap & Stop Midge Screens. They are based on the Sunshine Coast and can be contacted by mobile 0448911235 or email pandvarch@gmail.com I can recommend them, they did a great job with our van. Cheers Karen2 points

Steve .... my apologies! I did not get back yo you to thank you for responding to my question. Got a bit distracted with a few things which put the Caravan blinds and fly screens to the bottom of the list. I will follow up now and appreciate your input. All the best to you & Kez ....catch you, again, sometime on the track! Cheers Richard2 points

Richard, I did ours myself. I purchased the (Black) Midge mesh from Bunnings. It is an easy process and there is a stack of info on this site about it. check the search button. Cheers Steve2 points

Hi Chris. Our panels are not flexible, but rather the fixed units which are on top of the van. They are Victron brand which we got from Trip Tracks (David Bellette). I am not sure about the longevity of the flexible panels. Are they proving satisfactory? (I hasten that I add nothing about them). But I do know it is always good to increase solar wattage and lithium capacity 😆 Chris(tine) PS I can always give you David Bellette's contact details but am not sure if he supplies flexible panels.2 points

I am so completely with you on this. A few times we have taken the camper trailer on short trips. You really are at the mercy of the elements so much more. I love that van. We plan to be in WA next year so might organise something together! Perhaps we should go to Mt Marshall rock together just like old times 😄😄😄2 points

One of my wife’s third graders was wearing a Fitbit watch, which prompted my wife to ask, “Are you tracking your steps?” “No,” said the little girl. “I wear this for Mommy so she can show Daddy when he gets home.” —James Avery I loved the dress that I bought at a flea market. It fit perfectly, and the skirt was a swirl of intricate pleats. I wore it confidently to an evening party and glowed when a woman exclaimed, “Oh, how stunning!” Yes, I was grinning from ear to ear, until she added cheerfully, “Hang on to it, honey. Pleats will come back someday.” —Mary Lou Wickham A customer walked into my clothing shop and asked to see the pants that were advertised in the paper that day. “We don’t have an ad in the paper today,” I told her. She insisted I was wrong, so I got a copy of the paper, and we went through it, eventually landing on an ad for pants from another local store. Exasperated, the customer glared at me and said, “In my newspaper, the ad was for this store!” —Edward Oppenheimer2 points

Hi all, very new to this brand, however ended up here due to purchasing a lesser manufacturers product and lost near on 70k... another story for another time🤬. I'm interested in the method and material used for flooring on earlier (2007 to 2008) Top enders. About to take delivery soon of a single axle 7.7m (overall) 2008 model and curious how well they resist any moisture ingress. Thankyou for any insight😊😊 JC.2 points

Hi Brian , Kedron have only recently stopped replacing damaged front window bra's , I can only suggest that you try a local motor trimmer / upholsterer to replace . They would most likely require the old one as a template.2 points

Welcome to the forum. As you can see (Events - far right shows notification, in financial members area gives details) we have a gathering on the 14th to 17th of July at one of the Kedron Owners Group members private property's at Kilkivan. Since it is only in the financial members area you would have become a member first. Sometimes we do have gatherings for financial and non financial members. Enjoy your Kedron, we have had ours for nine years so far and done many rough/bitumen miles in it.2 points

Hi Neil. We have our 2012 ATV and 2017 Landcruiser Sahara insured through Ken Tame and Associates. Have been with them about 12 years. They will do ‘agreed’ value as opposed to ‘market’ value. You have to be a member of the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia (CMCA) in order to insure through Ken Tame and Associates. We’ve found them very easy to deal with. We’ve also heard good things about Caravan Insurance Ltd (CIL). As Sandra said, it’s best to shop around. Cheers from Pete.2 points

With Tom's help I resolved the problem by forcing a cold reset of the C40. To do this, remove the front cover, then disconnect the red and black leads that go to the battery and -ve van shunt respectively. Leave 10 minutes, then reconnect and wait for the unit to reset, at which time the charge light starts blinking again Hope this is helpful to someone else in the future. Many thanks to all who helped. Regards, Andrew2 points

Well here is another Question or Warning we have a Dec. 2006 L/C Sahara 198,000km always serviced, well yesterday we were heading up the Kuranda Range north of Cairns pulling Kedron 17.6ft. van almost to top & a hell of a bang steam every where managed to go 300 meters to pull over place at top, popped bonnet & the whole top of Radiator was blown off, water res. was only half full & still okay. Rob from Cape York Auto managed to get new Radiator & fitted it on side of road said he had never seen anything like this before & on closer inspection of plastic top it was perfect on exterior but inside it was all crazed & you could scrape bits off it. They have our car in Cairns going over everything to see if they can come up with reason for this to happen. The rest of Radiator is in great shape just like new inside. Rob said he will keep this in the memory bank & if any of his costumers are pulling loads with similar vehicles or older he will tell them what happened & they can make the decision as to what they will do, as you can not look at the interior of the top tank. I will keep you updated when we know the final out come. It will not be a cheap outcome. Neville1 point

Hi. This might be a long shot. A couple of times in the past, I have used ‘The Fridge Whisperer’ (07 5499 1261) in Caboolture, north of Brisbane. The guy was able to help us some years ago. Even though you’re in Belrose NSW, no harm in giving him a call. Cheers from Pete.1 point

Thanks Chris , That figure of 70 amps /day is very helpful as it gives me something to compare with.Ours uses about 50 amps overnight with the sleep function on for most of that 12 hr period so I’m guessing it uses well over a 100 amps per day to operate. I’ll call the Australian distributor and hopefully get this fixed as it’s frustrated me for 4 years! Thanks again.1 point
